Theodore A. Griffinger, Jr.
Theodore ("Dore") A. Griffinger, Jr. is Senior Counsel in Lubin Olson's Litigation and Finance and Workouts Practice Groups. He specializes in securities, real estate and fiduciary matters.
Dore is one of California’s most highly-respected trial lawyers. He has over 35 years of litigation experience, during which he has litigated and arbitrated over 100 cases, focusing in recent years on securities, real estate finance and fiduciary duty litigation. He has also prepared and argued appeals to California and federal appellate courts.
Dore was selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2016 and 2017 Editions of The Best Lawyers in America© for his work in Commercial Litigation and Real Estate Law. In addition, he was named a “Super Lawyer” by San Francisco Magazine for ten consecutive years beginning in 2004, placing him among the top 5% of lawyers in northern California. He is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. In 2013, he was selected by American Lawyer Media and Martindale Hubbell as one of the nation's "Top Rated Lawyers in Commercial Litigation." Dore has served as an Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of California Hastings College of the Law from 1978 to 1980, teaching trial practice. He has acted as a Judge Pro Tempore in the San Francisco Superior Court, sitting as a judge through two jury trials. He has also acted as a securities arbitrator for the NYSE, NASD and Pacific Coast Stock Exchange.
Dore was one of the founders of the Litigation Section of the San Francisco Bar Association and has served on the Association's Executive Committee. He is a frequent author and lecturer on issues relating to litigation, including trial strategy and evidence.
Dore Griffinger has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Bothin Foundation. The Bothin Foundation was established by Henry E. Bothin and incorporated as a private foundation in the State of California in 1917. The Foundation makes capital grants to social service, arts, and environmental nonprofit organizations providing direct services to disadvantaged children, youth, families, and the disabled; the foundation also supports schools exclusively serving children with learning differences. In addition to his election to the Board of Directors, Dore has also been elected to the Foundation Board's finance committee.
Prior to joining Lubin Olson, Dore practiced with, and was the Managing Partner of, Landels, Ripley & Diamond, which merged in 1996 with a firm Mr. Griffinger had co-founded in 1979. Mr. Griffinger began his legal career with Pettit, Evers & Martin in 1975.
