EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 

DESCRIPTION:

The Executive Director at Lubin Olson & Niewiadomski LLP plays an integral part in the overall management of this vibrant, exciting, and fun, mid-size real estate and litigation firm.  The Executive Director works in conjunction with and oversees the firm’s managers including the Controller, IT Manager, and Office Services personnel; assists the Managing Partner in identifying and planning for the changing needs of the organization; implements the firm’s strategic plan; and contributes to cost-effective management throughout the firm.  The individual must have a professional demeanor, be a self-starter, and have strong organizational, analytical and computer skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Directs the human resources function from human resources planning to performance objectives.  Responsible for recruiting, orientation, evaluation, salary administration and staff development.  Oversees employee relations, resolution of conflicts and employee grievances.
  • Administers employee benefit plans and policies  Researches and evaluates renewal proposals for employee benefit plans (medical, dental, vision, group life and LTD policies).
  • Collaborates with the Controller on budgeting.  Reviews monthly financial reports for variances.
  • Implements strategic planning initiatives on behalf of the Partnership.
  • In collaboration with the IT Partner and IT Manager, the Executive Director oversees the firm’s technology needs and future planning. 
  • Coordinates and implements special projects, including office renovations, space planning, and, in coordination with Office Services, internal office reassignments and ergonomic changes to work areas.  Oversees the Office Services team to assure that the facilities management functions are implemented.
  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the marketing and business development functions, and ensuring that the firm’s overall marketing plans are being implemented.
  • Drafts annual insurance renewal applications for review by the Chief Operating Officer and Risk Management Partner.  Negotiates insurance renewal proposals with brokers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an area of finance, human resources, or business management.  A minimum of seven (7) years of law firm management experience, or equivalent experience in a professional services environment.
  • Effective interpersonal  and communication skills with attorneys and staff.  Displays excellent supervisory and leadership skills. 
  • Maintaining confidential information is an essential function of the position.
  • This position requires strong organizational skills.  Able to communicate well at all levels of the organization; handle and prioritize tasks; make decisions and solve problems with creativity; and lead by example and motivate staff  for short- and long-term performance improvement.
